Tinubu’s Achievements Will Silence Critics Ahead of 2027, Says Matawalle

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office will silence critics and pave the way for his re-election in 2027.
Matawalle stated this on Tuesday at a Contact and Sensitisation Retreat organised by the North-West Tinubu/Matawalle Peace and Unity Initiatives in Sokoto.
He accused opponents of the administration of deploying falsehood and propaganda to undermine the President’s achievements, insisting that such efforts would not diminish the impact of Tinubu’s policies and reforms.
“Those attacking President Tinubu with lies and propaganda will be disappointed. His achievements and commitment to national development will speak for themselves in 2027,” he said.
The minister maintained that the President had demonstrated strong leadership by addressing insecurity, implementing economic reforms and supporting key sectors of the economy.
According to him, the administration has enhanced the capacity of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, resulting in notable gains in the fight against insecurity, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
“President Tinubu inherited serious security and governance challenges, but he has shown courage and determination in addressing them. His administration continues to invest in security, infrastructure, education and human capital development,” Matawalle stated.
He also criticised what he described as attempts by some political actors to mislead Nigerians and discredit the government.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals have chosen to spread misinformation and negative narratives despite the administration’s efforts to promote unity, peace and progress,” he added.
Matawalle urged young Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used for political propaganda capable of creating division and instability.
“Our youths must reject falsehood and focus on initiatives that promote national development, peace and social harmony,” he said.
Earlier, the Lead Convener of the North-West Tinubu/Matawalle Peace and Unity Initiatives, Yusuf Abubakar, said the retreat was aimed at deepening grassroots support for President Tinubu and highlighting the administration’s achievements.
“Our objective is to mobilise support by educating Nigerians on the President’s policies, reforms and development agenda,” Abubakar said.
He called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to sustain public awareness of the administration’s programmes and commended Matawalle for his support in mobilising people across the North-West.
The retreat was attended by 58 leaders of community groups, associations and ambassadors drawn from Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and Kaduna states.
