Ushongo Council Boss Hon Adzu bags National Award For Good Governance

 The Executive Chairman of Ushongo Local Government Council, Hon. Adzu Terkimbi Timothy, has been honoured with the Outstanding Local Government Chairman in Nigeria Award at a two-day national workshop for all 774 local government chairmen, held at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The workshop, themed “The Nigerian Tax Act 2025: Implications for Fiscal Federalism, Local Government Autonomy, and Internally Generated Revenue of Local Governments in Nigeria,” was convened by the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration in collaboration with Global Gold Consults Ltd.

Hon. Adzu’s recognition, presented by the organisers, celebrates his notable contributions to grassroots governance, development initiatives, and his commitment to transparency and accountability in Ushongo Local Government Area.

According to the award citation, the honour reflects his “dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of the people of Ushongo, Benue State, and Nigeria at large.”

In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Adzu expressed gratitude to the Senate Committee and Global Gold Consults Ltd for the recognition. He noted that the award reinforces his resolve to deepen administrative reforms and community-focused development in Ushongo LGA.

He also acknowledged the support of the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, saying the governor’s guidance and enabling environment have been instrumental to his achievements in office.

Quoting Proverbs 11:14, Hon. Adzu said: “Where there is no guidance, a people fall, but in the abundance of counsellors there is safety.” He added that his greatest competition is himself, emphasizing his drive for self-improvement and effective leadership.

The chairman further offered a brief prayer inspired by his mother’s words, dedicating the award to the people of Ushongo Local Government Council.

The event attracted local government chairmen from across the country, government officials, and distinguished personalities from various sectors.
