South-West APC Commends Ekiti Voters Over Oyebanji’s Re-election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West has praised voters in Ekiti State for their massive support that secured the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second four-year term.
The party said the outcome of the governorship election demonstrated that the people of Ekiti are politically conscious and committed to making decisions that serve the best interests of the state and the nation.
In a statement issued in Ibadan on Monday by the South-West APC Publicity Secretary, Ayobami Afolabi, the party described Oyebanji’s victory as unprecedented and a reflection of the confidence Nigerians have in the leadership provided by the governor and President Bola Tinubu.
Oyebanji emerged victorious in the governorship election held on Saturday, defeating candidates from about 13 political parties. His victory makes him the first sitting governor in Ekiti State to secure re-election.
According to Afolabi, nearly 90 per cent of the votes cast across the 16 local government areas of the state went to the APC candidate, a development he said underscored the electorate’s continued faith in the ruling party.
He assured that the party would not take the mandate for granted, adding that Governor Oyebanji and other elected officials had been challenged to intensify efforts toward providing quality leadership, innovation and effective service delivery.
Afolabi expressed optimism ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, saying the poll would provide residents with an opportunity to return to what he described as mainstream politics and elect a leader they could proudly identify with.
He also called on stakeholders across the South-West to revive the developmental ideals championed by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, noting that the region must reclaim its position as a pace-setter in national development.
“The time has come for the South-West to rediscover the vision and progressive ideals with which Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his team transformed the region in the 1950s and 1960s. None of the six states in the zone can afford to be left behind,” he said.
While appreciating Ekiti residents for retaining the APC in power, Afolabi urged them to sustain their support for the party and President Bola Tinubu in future elections, expressing confidence that such support would attract greater democratic dividends to the people.
