Supporters of El-Rufai Storm Kaduna Court Premises During Arraignment

Supporters of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday stormed the premises of the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

According to Daily Post, El-Rufai appeared in court for his arraignment by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged money laundering offences.

The arraignment comes amid mounting pressure from stakeholders, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling for either his release or formal arraignment.

El-Rufai has been in detention since his return to Nigeria from Egypt. While in ICPC custody, he reportedly refused to respond to investigators’ questions, citing his constitutional right to remain silent.

The former governor had earlier filed a fundamental rights suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja challenging the ICPC’s search of his residence and the remand order issued on February 19.
