The Nasarawa State Government has approved the sum of ₦13 billion for the construction of one-kilometre roads in each of the state’s 13 local government areas, in a move aimed at strengthening infrastructure and accelerating grassroots development.
The approval was granted at a recent State Executive Council meeting, reflecting the administration’s commitment to improving road connectivity, easing transportation challenges and stimulating economic activities across urban and rural communities.
Government officials said the road projects are expected to open up previously hard-to-reach areas, facilitate the smooth movement of goods and people, and support local commerce. The initiative is also projected to create employment opportunities for residents during the construction phase.
According to the state government, the project aligns with its broader development agenda focused on equitable distribution of infrastructure across all local government areas and improving the overall living conditions of citizens.
Construction work is expected to commence following the completion of procurement processes. The government assured that contractors engaged for the projects will be required to adhere strictly to approved quality standards and timelines to ensure timely and durable delivery of the roads.
The initiative is seen as a key step in the state’s efforts to enhance inclusive development and strengthen local economies through improved infrastructure.
