Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council, effectively relieving all commissioners of their duties.
The governor also directed the outgoing commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before Friday, April 3, 2026.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani.
According to the statement, the decision is aimed at creating an enabling environment for members of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
“The decision is to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections,” the statement read.
It added that Governor Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their service and contributions to the development of the state.
“Governor Zulum commends the dedication, commitment and invaluable contributions of the outgoing commissioners to the growth and service of the people of Borno State,” the statement added.
