Imo CP Unveils Police Post in Oil-Producing Community

The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Audu Garba Bosso, has inaugurated a new police post in Assa community, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, as part of efforts to strengthen security in the oil-producing area.

The facility, constructed by Anoh Gas Processing Company Limited (AGPC) under its corporate social responsibility initiative, is aimed at enhancing peace, safety, and development within the host community.

The newly commissioned police post features a modern administrative block, detention facility, interrogation room, police quarters, and advanced electronic equipment designed to improve operational efficiency.

Speaking at the inauguration on Tuesday, Bosso commended AGPC for the initiative and assured residents of adequate deployment of personnel to the facility.

“I commend AGPC for this laudable effort in supporting the Nigeria Police Force. We will ensure that sufficient officers are deployed here to strengthen security operations,” he said.

The police boss also urged members of the community to support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities.

“Security is a collective responsibility. If you see something, say something. We will act on all useful information to ensure the safety of lives and property,” he added.

The event attracted key stakeholders, including the Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Prince Marcel Amadioha, who praised the company for prioritising the security of its host community.

Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Assa, Eze Emmanuel Assor, commended the project, noting that it would significantly improve safety and stability in the area. He called on residents to cooperate fully with security agencies.

A representative of AGPC reaffirmed the company’s commitment to community development and sustained collaboration with stakeholders to promote peace and prosperity.

Other dignitaries present included the President General of Assa Autonomous Community, Chief Reward Evans; Vice Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Mrs Elizabeth Oparah; Chairman of AGPC Host Community Development Board, Mr Asilonu Utiti, alongside palace chiefs and community leaders.
