The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has decorated newly promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), charging them to uphold professionalism and strengthen leadership within the Force.

Speaking during the decoration ceremony, the IGP said the promotion marked the assumption of greater responsibilities in the leadership and strategic management of the Nigeria Police Force.

Disu described the officers’ elevation as a recognition of their professionalism, leadership capacity, and consistent service to the nation.

According to him, promotion to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police represents one of the highest levels of professional trust within the institution.

“It is both an honour and a call to duty that demands wisdom, integrity, courage, and an unwavering commitment to justice and service,” he said.

The police chief noted that as members of the top strategic leadership of the Force, the newly promoted DIGs are expected to provide institutional direction, strengthen internal discipline, and drive reforms aimed at improving policing across the country.

He also urged them to ensure that the Force’s strategies remain responsive to the country’s evolving security challenges, including organised crime, cyber-enabled threats, and violent criminal networks.

Disu further charged the officers to deploy their experience in strengthening intelligence-led policing, deepening inter-agency collaboration, improving operational coordination across commands, and reinforcing accountability within the ranks.

He stressed that their leadership must inspire confidence within the Force and build trust among citizens.

The IGP added that their tenure at the new rank should be defined by discipline, fairness, transparency, and service, noting that their actions and decisions would continue to shape the culture, direction, and public perception of the Nigeria Police Force.
