Wike-Backed PDP Unveils Candidates for Oyo Reps Seats Ahead of 2027 Polls

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has released the names of its candidates for the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The list was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the party’s State Organising Secretary, Stephen Olaniyi, in Ibadan.

According to the statement, the candidates emerged through primary elections conducted across the state on Sunday.

The party disclosed that the 14 candidates would represent the PDP in their respective federal constituencies during the forthcoming general elections.

The candidates include Samson Fatola for Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency, Idris Olanrewaju for Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba/Afijio Federal Constituency, and Olusegun Akinloye for Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.

Others are Elizabeth Alao for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Rasaki Haruna for Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, and Rotimi Ajumobi for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency.

Also on the list are Adedotun Adebayo for Oluyole Federal Constituency, Olusoji Olusegun for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, and Solomon Odeyemi for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.

Other candidates include Victoria Akinyemi for Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, Abdul-Lateef Adeniran for Irepo/Olorunsogo/Orelope Federal Constituency, and Ramota Azeez for Atisbo/Saki East/Saki West Federal Constituency.

The party also named Olayemi Akinyemi for Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency and Ajoke Okanlawon for Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire Federal Constituency.

The PDP faction expressed confidence in the ability of the candidates to secure victory at the polls and urged party members to remain united and support their campaigns ahead of the elections.
