VeryDarkMan Reveals Private Meeting with Former CDS Musa: ‘He Looked Me in the Eyes and Said, I Need Your Help

Social activist, Martin Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has disclosed a previously unknown encounter with former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, shedding new light on Musa’s approach to national security and community intelligence gathering. The revelation comes amid widespread public attention following President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of Musa as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence.

In a detailed account released on Wednesday, the activist narrated how, on June 19, he was unexpectedly informed that the Nigerian Army was searching for him. Initially alarmed, he said he could not recall any wrongdoing that would warrant such attention.

“They just told me that the army was looking for me. I panicked,” he recounted. “I said, which wahala do I have with the army? I couldn’t remember anything—except that I had once criticised Christopher Musa.”

According to him, unidentified persons picked him up and drove him to the Asokoro military base in Abuja. Upon arrival, he was taken by surprise when he came face-to-face with General Musa himself.

“When they opened the door, guess who I saw? Christopher Musa—the same person I had blasted online,” he said. “He asked everyone to leave and told me to sit with him.”

In the private conversation that followed, the activist said General Musa expressed neither anger nor defensiveness over past criticisms. Instead, the former CDS reportedly made a humble request.

“He looked at me and said, ‘VeryDarkMan… I need your help.’ I was shocked,” he narrated. “He asked me to tell him everything I observed when I visited Yelwata. He said I was the first person with a camera to go there when others were scared.”

The activist stated that General Musa requested insights, observations, and any information he had gathered on the crisis in Yelwata, a community that has faced prolonged violence and humanitarian concerns.

After listening attentively to the activist’s account, General Musa reportedly thanked him and assured him the military would “take it up from there,” urging him to share any further information in the future. The two men also took a photograph on June 20, 2025, documenting the unusual meeting.

VeryDarkMan said he chose to speak out now following news of Musa’s removal as CDS and his subsequent nomination as Minister of Defence.

“When I heard he was removed, I just shook my head,” he said. “That man is a man who was genuinely looking for solutions. For him to call me to his house and ask for help—this is the Chief of Defence Staff. No pride. No ego.”

The activist described the encounter as evidence of Musa’s willingness to seek information from unconventional sources in the interest of national security.

General Christopher Musa’s nomination has ignited public debate, with many awaiting Senate confirmation hearings. However, this latest revelation adds a new dimension to his leadership style—one that, according to the activist, favours humility, openness, and a results-driven approach.

The Spatula News will continue to follow developments surrounding Musa’s nomination and the broader discussions around defence sector reforms.
