By Abah Margaret

Teachers and students of a school in the Ogba area of Lagos State narrowly escaped death on Monday after a four-storey building housing the institution suddenly collapsed.

The structure reportedly caved in around noon, barely three minutes after students and staff were evacuated from the building, preventing what could have been a major tragedy.

The building is located at No. 11 Adudatu Street, behind County Hospital in the Aguda area of Ogba.

Eyewitnesses said the occupants had just vacated the premises when the structure gave way, sending debris across the surrounding area.

The cause of the collapse had not been determined as of the time of filing this report.

Building collapses have become a recurring issue in Lagos in recent times, raising concerns over construction standards and regulatory compliance.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident to determine the circumstances that led to the collapse.
