Mbah Approves Promotion, Conversion of 2,114 Enugu Civil Servants

Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has approved the promotion and conversion of 2,114 civil servants across the state workforce.

The decision follows the successful conclusion of the November and December 2025 promotion and conversion exercises conducted for personnel across various cadres.

Chairman of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission, Robison Odo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday through the governor’s media office. He noted that the approval takes immediate effect and includes all financial benefits attached to the new ranks.

According to Odo, the exercise covered officers from Grade Levels 01 to 17 who met the required standards in both examinations and interviews.

“The Executive Governor has approved the promotion and conversion of 2,114 officers who participated in the 2025 exercise. The approval takes immediate effect with all financial implications,” he said.

He added that all administrative processes have been finalised to ensure that beneficiaries begin to receive their upgraded salaries and allowances without delay.

Odo further revealed that steps are already being taken to reflect the changes in the state payroll system in line with the governor’s directive.

He linked the development to the administration’s broader commitment to workers’ welfare, highlighting the state’s N80,000 minimum wage—above the national benchmark—as part of ongoing efforts to improve the standard of living of civil servants.

Despite ongoing large-scale infrastructural projects, Odo assured that the government remains committed to the prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities.

In his remarks, the Head of Service, Dr. Godwin Anigbo, described the exercise as part of a wider reform agenda aimed at repositioning the public service for improved efficiency and service delivery.

He outlined key initiatives under the reform programme, including the transition from analogue systems to digital operations through staff training, the establishment of a public service training institute, and the development of modern skills among workers to meet contemporary governance demands.

Anigbo added that the Office of the Head of Service is working closely with the Civil Service Commission to ensure discipline and alignment with the state’s development priorities.
