Kwande Council Chairman Condemns Udeedeku Attack, Deploys Security Operatives

The Executive Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Rt. Hon. Neji Vitalis Terhile, has strongly condemned the recent attack on residents of Udeedeku in Mkoomon District, Mbaikyor Council Ward of Kwande Local Government Area, which claimed the lives of four persons and left several others injured.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Chairman described the attack, allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani terrorists, as barbaric and deeply distressing. He expressed profound sorrow over the incident and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

Rt. Hon. Neji assured residents that the council is taking decisive steps to prevent further attacks, disclosing that additional security operatives have been deployed to the affected area to restore peace and safeguard lives and property. He urged the people to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts are intensified to address the situation.

The Council Chairman also expressed concern over a separate incident of cult-related violence in Jato Aka, which reportedly resulted in the death of four youths. According to him, security operatives have since been mobilized to the area, leading to the arrest of eight suspects in connection with the violence.

He warned youths against engaging in cultism and other criminal activities, noting that such actions only worsen the internal security challenges facing the local government. Rt. Hon. Neji reiterated that the Kwande Local Government Council has prioritized tackling insecurity, particularly the recurring attacks attributed to armed herders, and expressed optimism that the menace would soon be brought to an end.

The Chairman further called on residents and community leaders to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or individuals to security agencies. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to restoring lasting peace in Kwande, especially in the Turan community, and appealed for the continued support and cooperation of the public.
