Kaduna Roads Agency Commends Sani on Completion of 35km Road Project

The Kaduna State Roads Agency has commended Governor Uba Sani for what it described as sustained investments in road infrastructure, following the completion and commissioning of a 35-kilometre asphalt road linking Gadan Gayan in Igabi Local Government Area to Kujama Junction in Chikun Local Government Area, through Gwaraji.

The Managing Director of the agency, Dr. Abdullahi Baba-Ahmad, gave the commendation on Tuesday during the official commissioning of the project. The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the agency’s media team.

Baba-Ahmad described the road as a landmark achievement, noting that it features a 130-metre, nine-span bridge and is expected to significantly improve rural–urban connectivity, stimulate economic activities and ease movement for communities along the corridor.

According to him, the completion of the project reflects the commitment of the Uba Sani administration to delivering dividends of democracy across all parts of Kaduna State.

“The current administration has completed over 1,300 kilometres of roads across Kaduna State, thereby boosting commercial activities, easing travel, and improving productivity,” he said.

He added that the project forms part of broader efforts by the state government to open up previously underserved areas and reduce travel time for farmers, traders and commuters.

In his remarks, Governor Sani expressed fulfilment over the completion of the road, describing it as a project designed to meet both the economic and social needs of the people.

The governor explained that the road connects Gadan Gayan, Gwaraji, Wusar and Kujama Junction, cutting across Igabi, Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas, and serving more than 76 rural and urban farming communities.

“This landmark infrastructure, anchored by a 130-metre bridge across River Kaduna, directly serves no fewer than 76 rural and farming communities. As the longest road constructed in Kaduna State in over two decades, it stands as a compelling symbol of our administration’s resolve to place people at the very heart of development,” Sani said.

He noted that the road was conceived as more than a stretch of asphalt, but as a lifeline aimed at unlocking economic opportunities, enhancing security and improving the quality of life of residents.

Governor Sani further explained that the road provides an alternative route that eases congestion around Kaduna metropolis, strengthens interconnectivity across the state’s three senatorial zones, and reduces travel time and transportation costs, while improving access to markets, healthcare, education and emergency services.

The project is one of several road interventions undertaken by the Sani administration as part of a wider infrastructure renewal drive aimed at boosting economic growth, improving security and enhancing living standards across Kaduna State.
