Fintiri Imposes 24-Hour Curfew on Lamurde LGA Again

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect following renewed violent attacks in several communities.

The directive was announced in a statement issued on Monday in Yola by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

Wonosikou said the decision followed fresh outbreaks of violence and a breakdown of law and order which reportedly resulted in the death of some residents in the affected communities.

According to him, the governor described the disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to strictly enforce the curfew across the local government area.

He warned that anyone or group found violating the curfew order would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The curfew, he said, will remain in force until further notice while security agencies continue efforts to restore peace and stability in the area.

The governor also urged residents to comply fully with the directive and assist security agencies by providing useful information that could help restore calm.

Fintiri reiterated that the state government would not tolerate acts of violence and would take all necessary measures to protect lives and property.

It would be recalled that a similar 24-hour curfew was earlier imposed on December 8, 2025, following a fresh outbreak of communal clashes involving the Bachama community in the area.
