Ekiti ADC Ex-Leader David-Adesua Defects to PDP, Eyes 2027 Senate Ticket

A former chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State, Ayodele David-Adesua, has officially resigned from the party and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
David-Adesua, who previously contested as a governorship aspirant under the ADC in 2018 and 2026, is now seeking the PDP senatorial ticket for Ekiti North Senatorial District.
In a resignation letter dated April 21, 2026, and addressed to the ADC Chairman of Ijesa Isu Ward 7 in Ikole Local Government Area, the politician described his decision as final and aligned with his political ambitions.
“I hereby resign my membership of the ADC with immediate effect from April 21, 2026. My membership registration number is EK-IKO-IJ-11183,” he stated.
Reflecting on his time in the party, David-Adesua noted that he made significant contributions to the ADC’s growth at various levels.
“During my time with the ADC, I contributed actively at the ward, local government, state, and national levels, both before and after the coalition. I secured office spaces in all 12 wards within Ikole Local Government Area and provided financial support to sustain the party’s operations,” he said.
Sources close to the politician revealed that his defection to the PDP is part of a broader strategy to actualise his ambition of representing Ekiti North Senatorial District in the Senate.
Confirming the move, David-Adesua told journalists on Tuesday that his decision was driven by a desire to better serve his constituents.
“I took this step to fulfil my mission of delivering the dividends of democracy to my people in Ekiti North. I believe the PDP provides a more effective platform to achieve this goal,” he said.
His defection comes amid ongoing political realignments in Ekiti State ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
