The announcement was made in a statement issued by Captain Muyiwa Ayara on behalf of the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 14 Brigade.
According to the statement, the Day and Night Shooting Competition is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Shooting Range in Ohafia, from 12:00 noon to 11:00 p.m.
The Army explained that the exercise is a routine training programme designed to enhance the operational efficiency, marksmanship, and combat readiness of participating troops.
It urged members of the public not to panic at the sound of gunshots during the exercise, assuring that all activities would be conducted in a controlled and secure environment.
“For the safety of lives and property, residents are strongly advised to stay away from the shooting range throughout the duration of the exercise, avoid unauthorised movement within the training area, and adhere strictly to instructions issued by military personnel,” the statement said.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while appealing for the understanding and cooperation of the public.
