Ahead of the All Progressives Congress State House of Assembly primaries in Isuikwuato State Constituency of Abia State, aspirant Lilian Agbazue has dismissed allegations linking her to the Labour Party and the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
Agbazue insisted that her relationship with the Abia State Government is strictly business-related and has no political undertone.
Speaking through a recorded message on Wednesday amid rising political tension over her recent interactions with the state government, the APC aspirant described claims of her loyalty to the Labour Party as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
“I wish to issue a disclaimer and state unequivocally that I, Lilian Obenwa Agbazue, have no business being a Labour Party member and I am not working for Governor Alex Otti,” she stated.
Agbazue explained that her contact with the governor was solely connected to rice supply contracts, noting that she is widely known across Abia State as a rice supplier who maintains business relationships with individuals across political parties.
According to her, “It will be extremely foolish of me to contest an election under APC and at the same time work for a governor elected under the Labour Party.”
She further suggested that gender bias may be contributing to the controversy surrounding her political activities and business dealings.
The development comes ahead of the APC primaries for the Abia State House of Assembly, where political alignments and loyalty claims have continued to generate debate among party members and supporters.
