President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented the 2025 Budget proposal, titled “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” to the National Assembly today. The proposed budget totals ₦47.96 trillion, with a focus on restoring macroeconomic stability, enhancing the business environment, and promoting inclusive growth.
The President emphasized that the budget reflects the administration’s commitment to stabilizing the economy, improving lives, and creating a brighter future for all Nigerians. He noted that the time for lamentation is over and that it’s time to act, support, and promote greater investment in the private sector.
Highlighting the country’s economic progress, Tinubu mentioned that Nigeria witnessed economic growth of 3.46% in Q3 2024, up from 2.54% in Q3 2023. The foreign reserves now stand at $42 billion, providing robust economic security, and the country has a trade surplus of ₦5.8 trillion.
The 2025 Budget allocates significant funds to key areas, including:
– Defence and Security: ₦4.91 trillion
– Infrastructure: ₦4.06 trillion
– Education: ₦3.52 trillion
– Health: ₦2.48 trillion
Tinubu emphasized that the budget is ambitious but necessary, aiming to build a Nigeria where peace reigns, opportunities abound, and every citizen can thrive in safety. He urged Nigerians to move forward as one united nation, determined to rewrite their story for future generations.
