The Executive Chairman of Kwande Local Government Area, Hon. Vitalis Terhile Neji , on Tuesday January 14 2025 held a crucial meeting with security chiefs in Makurdi at the headquarters of Operation Whirl Stroke. The meeting was convened to address the ongoing attacks on communities in Kwande LGA by armed Fulani herders, which have caused immense suffering, displacement, and destruction in the area.
During the meeting, Hon. Neji Vitalis expressed his deep concern over the persistent attacks and the devastating impact on the lives and livelihoods of the people. He called on the security chiefs to intensify their efforts in combating the crisis and assured them of the local government’s support in restoring peace and stability in Kwande LGA.
In their response, the security chiefs assured the Executive Chairman that they would make every effort to ensure that Kwande LGA no longer faces issues of insecurity. They pledged to work collaboratively to restore peace and protect the affected communities.
The meeting was attended by notable dignitaries from Kwande, former House of Representatives member Kwande/Ushongo, Hon. Bob Tyough; the representative of Kwande East Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Anyor Matu, KWUPO Youth Leader, Comrade Aloko Nachi; IDA President, Hon. Engr. Nonnor Ernest; and many others. Their presence demonstrated a united front and unwavering support for efforts aimed at addressing the security challenges in the local government area.
The meeting concluded with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to ensure peace is restored to Kwande LGA. Hon. Neji Vitalis thanked the security chiefs and dignitaries for their cooperation and reiterated his administration’s dedication to prioritizing the safety and well-being of Kwande residents.
