Toll Gate Plazas Now Operational, Motorists to Pay Toll Fees

The long abolished Toll Fees in Nigeria seems to have resurfaced across many federal roads that were rehabilitated recently.  The Spatula gathered this at the Garaku Cashless Toll Gate Plaza, located on the Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Makurdi Highway, which has been officially commissioned, and motorists plying the route are now required to pay toll fees. The toll gate plaza, which is part of the federal government’s efforts to improve the nation’s infrastructure, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to facilitate cashless payments.

According to the toll fee schedule which was obtained by The Spatula, saloon cars will pay N500, while SUVs and jeeps will pay N800. Minibuses will be required to pay N1000, and multi-axle vehicles will pay N1,600. It is worth noting that all payments must be made through cashless means, ensuring a seamless and efficient transaction process.

However, some categories of vehicles are exempt from paying toll fees. Police and military vehicles, as well as a class of essential service vehicles, will not be required to pay tolling fees on the 227-kilometer Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Makurdi Road.

The introduction of the toll gate plaza is expected to generate revenue for the government, which will be used to maintain and improve the highway. The cashless payment system is also designed to reduce congestion and minimize the risk of accidents at the toll gate.

Motorists are advised to ensure that they have a valid means of payment, such as a credit or debit card, to avoid any delays or inconvenience. The toll gate plaza is operational 24/7, and motorists are expected to comply with the toll fee schedule to avoid any penalties.

The commissioning of the Garaku Cashless Toll Gate Plaza is a significant development for the region, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy. The Spatula Newspaper will continue to provide updates on this story as more information becomes available.
