Former Benue State Governor, Chief Samuel Ortom, attended the 60th birthday and 38th wedding anniversary of his former Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, held at NKST Church in Pever, Tarka LGA.
In his address, Chief Ortom congratulated Ikyur on reaching 60 in good health, highlighting the wealth of experience he has gained over the years. He praised Ikyur as a devoted aide who stood by him during challenging times and commended his wife for being a God-fearing woman, expressing gratitude for their family’s values.
Reflecting on his governorship, Chief Ortom stated he had no regrets, including his loss in the 2023 Zone B senatorial election, affirming that everything that transpired was the will of God. He noted his commitment to addressing economic and security issues during his tenure on behalf of the Benue people.
He encouraged the community to continue praying for leaders at all levels, emphasizing the importance of unity among leaders for the state’s development.
Senator George Akume, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Hon. Loverty Makyur, recognized Ikyur as a hardworking individual who rose from humble beginnings.
Other attendees, including Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Pius Akutah Gbongbon, and various former appointees of Ortom, praised Ikyur’s humility and integrity in public service, wishing him many more years of happiness in life and marriage.
Hon. Nathaniel Ikyur expressed gratitude to God for his blessings throughout his 60 years and 38 years of marriage, committing to support ongoing church projects as a gesture of thanksgiving.
In his sermon, Revd. Moses Ayankaa urged Christians to embrace gratitude, reminding all that everyone has a reason to thank God.
Chief Ortom was joined at the service by Dr. James Anbua, Prof. Joseph Ngbea, Dr. Sarwuan Tarnongu, Hon. Abrahams Kwaghngu, and Elder Dam Ayali.
After the service, Hon. Nathaniel Ikyur hosted the Tarka Local Government PDP Exco at his home, generously donating a cow, a pig, and cash for their New Year celebration.
