In a decisive operation, police in Imo State successfully rescued four hostages on January 4, 2025, following a kidnapping incident in Umuokanne, Ohaji Local Government Area. The operation was launched after police received a distress call indicating the abduction. Upon locating the kidnappers’ hideout, officers engaged in a gun duel, resulting in the deaths of two suspects. The operation also yielded the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 21 rounds of ammunition.

Police arrived on the scene post-mortem to find that Okorocha had already been killed and burned by the mob.
