Dajoh Calls on Benue State Governor to Revive Tiv Day

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, has called on the executive Governor of Benue State Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to revived Tiv Day celebrations to promote unity among the Tiv people.

The Speaker made this call Friday 27th December 2024, during the 2024 edition of KSS held at the State Secretariat Makurdi, Benue State.

Chief Dajoh emphasized the significance of Tiv Day in celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Tiv people, noted that it will effectively promote unity among the Tiv people living at home and in the diaspora.

He called for a rethink on celebrating Tiv Day abroad while advocating for the event to be held in Benue State, allowing Tiv sons and daughters from around the world to converge and celebrate their heritage in unity.

Chief Dajoh noted that the Tiv Day at home will foster a sense of community and togetherness among the Tiv people, strengthening ties and promoting cultural exchange and understanding.

While appreciating the governor for his effort so far, in promoting the Tiv culture, the Speaker emphasized the importance of honoring the memories of distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and advancement of the Tiv nation and charged the Tiv people to prioritize the preservation of their rich cultural heritage.

Chief Dajoh expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Ukeyima Mfa, the founder and organizer of the KYEGH SHA SHWA (KSS) event, for his tireless efforts in promoting unity among the Tiv people through this cultural festival.

The Speaker commended Fr. Ukeyima’s dedication to preserving the Tiv heritage and encouraged him to continue his good work, urging him not to relent in his pursuit of unity and peace amongst the Tiv people.
